Len's professional expertise is in real estate development, site design, and green building principles. Len specializes in residential, development and housing for military families. He is a retired principal and owner of an engineering/planning firm based in Tacoma Washington. He served as principal in charge of planning and landscape architectural services. Len just completed six years as Chairman of the Board/CEO of Fly Fishers International, where he successfully rebranded the organization and established a new strategic direction. Len's professional work includes the master plan for the Spokane River Centennial Trail. He also prepared neighborhood plans in Spokane for Brownes Addition, Logan, Hillyard, West Central, East Central, and the Emerson/Garfield. Few people know the city as well as Len. He holds degrees from both Eastern Washington University and the University of Washington. Len's community service includes the Board of Trustees for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) serving disabled veterans through the sport and art of fly fishing. Len was appointed by the Governor to the Urban Forestry Executive Advisory Council and by the King County Executive as a member of the King County Design Commission. Locally, was a member of the City of Spokane Design Review Board and President of the Inland Empire Section of the American Planning Association. He currently serves as chairman of the Washington State Board of Licensing for Landscape Architects. In 2007 Len was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects - his profession's highest honor. Len is an avid fly fisher and is married to Dawn (Mills). They live in North Spokane. Lens favorite quote: "In our family the was no clear line between religion and fly fishing...all first-class fisherman on the Sea of Galilee were fly fisherman, and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman".
