Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, some Ukrainians fleeing the war have come to live in Spokane, joining an existing Slavic community that began arriving in the 80s and 90s. During this learning circle, we study the culture and history of our Ukrainian neighbors using free online materials. Once a week, we meet online for a group discussion, facilitated by a librarian who is a fellow learner. An optional in-person field trip is planned to deepen our understanding of the immigrant Ukrainian community in Spokane.

In collaboration with Thrive International

Registration is required. Registrants receive an email with course instructions and links.

Join us as the #1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey talks about the launch of her new super hot sports romance duology with a rom-com about a bad boy professional athlete who falls for his biggest fan in her new book Fangirl Down

Wells Whitaker was once golf’s hottest rising star, but lately, all he has to show for his “promising” career is a killer hangover, a collection of broken clubs, and one remaining supporter. No matter how bad he plays, the beautiful, sunny redhead is always on the sidelines. He curses, she cheers. He scowls, she smiles. But when Wells quits in a blaze of glory, and his fangirl finally goes home, he knows he made the greatest mistake of his life.

Josephine Doyle believed in the gorgeous, grumpy golfer, even when he didn’t believe in himself. Yet after he throws in the towel, she begins to wonder if her faith was misplaced. Then a determined Wells shows up at her door with a wild proposal: be his new caddy, help him turn his game around, and split the prize money. And considering Josephine’s professional and personal life is in shambles, she could really use the cash…

As they travel together, spending days on the green and nights in neighboring hotel rooms, sparks fly. Before long, they’re inseparable, Wells starts winning again, and Josephine is surprised to find a sweet, thoughtful guy underneath his gruff, growly exterior. But Wells is technically her boss, and an athlete falling for his fangirl would be ridiculous… right? You’ll have to register to find out!

About the Author: #1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey can solve all problems except for her own, so she focuses those efforts on stubborn, fictional blue-collar men and loyal, lovable heroines. She lives on Long Island, avoiding the sun and social interactions, then wonders why no one has called. Dubbed the “Michelangelo of dirty talk” by Entertainment Weekly, Tessa writes with spice, spirit, swoon, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Catch her on TikTok at @authortessabailey or check out tessabailey.com for a complete list of books.

Crime Scene Entertainment and Commellini Estate bring you the ultimate Murder Mystery experience! Show off your sleuthing skills as you piece together clues and uncover "who dunnit". During our events, you may even discover that YOU are, in fact, the murderer, or victim!

You have the option of being a murder mystery character or just an observer, but these mystery events are NOT set up like a play. Our mysteries are a hands-on, immersive experience.

It's the height of Prohibition in 1920s Chicago, and a mob war's brewing between the South Side Gangsters and the Northern Chicago Mob Outfit. The two ruthless crime leaders, Hal Sapone and Beanie O'Dannon, have finally agreed on bootlegging practices in Chicago and have decided to pull together resources for a collaborative effort with criminal endeavors.

On the surface, this strategy is similar to bailing out a sinking ship with tin cups.

Recently, gangsters from the north and south have been spotted together at various speakeasies throughout Chicago, but the tension in the air is always thick enough to be cut with a knife. However, this newfound relationship between the opposing mob bosses has served, thus far, to inhibit gratuitous bloodshed as in the past. Part of the success of this truce is that both crime bosses have found new dames, thereby intertwining more mutual relationships between the two factions.

The two gangs have set an official date to meet at Hal Sapone's Grand Gatsby Speakeasy to resolve all remaining differences. Will these two underground organizations resolve their disputes, or will a massive melee rekindle the fatal flames between them?

You have the option of being a murder mystery character or just an observer, but these mystery events are NOT set up like a play. Our mysteries are a hands-on, immersive experience.

For those NOT wishing to be a character, you will need to work harder to gather clues, as you won't have set objectives. You will be given a brief description of the main characters & will witness the murder, investigation, evidence presentation and lastly solution. You will have to go above and beyond to retrieve information from the characters, or by listening closely to your surroundings. (Should you wish to try and solve the mystery.)

For those that chose to be characters, you will be given step by step instruction on how to play your character for the night, but it's up to you to show off your character's personality and expand on your objectives.

In this overview, learn about the history of the Channeled Scablands. We look back to around 20,000 years ago at the end of the last glacial maximum and at the formation of two huge, glacially dammed, meltwater glacial lakes—Missoula and Columbia. We explore the subsequent failures of the Lake Missoula ice dam, which resulted in a series of megafloods that occurred between 18,000 and 14,000 years ago. Then, we discuss the geologic and hydrologic factors that control lake formations from the Medical Lake area to Fish Lake.
Presented by Dr. Linda McCollum, professor emeritus of geosciences at EWU and president of the Cheney-Spokane Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute
